Isaiah 43:19
“Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”

Greetings in the name of our lord Jesus Christ. In the last post I discussed about how our willingness or preparedness is important in receiving god’s blessings. In this post I would like to discuss how important it is to forget the past in order to get a new blessing. That is what our lord wants us to do according to Isaiah 43:18 (Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.)

He wants you to forget the past and also not to remember any of the old things, so that he can completely bless you with new things. You often do not realise that your old memories of the past or your past sins or any of the past emotional and physical wounds or anything else of the past is hindering you in moving forward to the purpose that god has got for you. God wants you to move forward to fulfil his will in your life. Have you noticed that the sun rises in the morning and sets in the evening and at night the moon and the stars shine its light is all on god’s command. He doesn’t stop governing the earth that he has made for man which means he too is working and has got loads of plan for this earth, for his souls and all the creations of the heaven and earth. So why do you or me is still looking at the past? Isn’t that something to think of.

Mark chapter 10 from verse 46 to 52 talks about a blind man who Jesus heals of his blindness. The blind man whose name is Bartimaeus is blind and always sat by the highways begging. In verse 47 it says that he heard of Jesus coming and hence shouted aloud calling “Jesus son of David have mercy on me”. More the people asked him to keep quiet the more he shouted (verse48). Why did he do so? Because “now” was the time for him. If he loses this opportunity, then he is sure that he may not get to meet Jesus again. It also shows that he must have heard of Jesus and his miraculous healings and was waiting for Jesus eagerly for quite a long time. He was sure not to miss this opportunity at any cost.

Jesus heard his cry and commanded the people to get the blind man to him (verse 49) and the blind man casting away his garment rose and came to Jesus (verse 50). This is where he showed his complete faith of not only be able to get the healing but to have his entire life to be changed for goodness. The garment which he wore was usually a robe like thing which were worn by beggars and blind people in Jesus days just to indicate who they are. His preparedness or willingness made him to throw away his garment as an action of faith. Jesus heals him and the man gets his sight (verse 51,52) but do see that Jesus telling him that it’s his faith which brought the miracle in him.

This simple story covers a lot of things that I discussed in the previous posts. It shows how he heard of Jesus and how the hearing brought the faith in him and the course of action through faith. His willingness to change made him a whole person in not only in receiving a miracle but also made him whole from inside. He casted away his old garment as a sign that he is sure to get the miracle and not going back to old life of begging or living in the streets anymore but he followed Jesus (verse52) knowing that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life (john 14:6). No doubt that his life was completely changed. But he took the decision right then. So “now” is the time for you to cast away the old whatever it may be. I am sure god will help you in doing that.

God bless you all. Amen.
