Proverbs 15:19

the way of the upright is a highway”

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We saw the life of a sluggard and how it ended up in want. Let’s see some of the other proverbs which tells about the characteristics of the sluggard. On meditating upon these Proverbs will make us to move forward in our spiritual life without being slothful.

Sluggishness leads to slavery.

“The hand of the diligent shall bear rule; but the slothful shall be under tribute. (Proverbs 12:24). The other translation explains it saying the lazy will become a slave. Jesus redeemed us from the slavery of sin. However, when a believer becomes sluggish to read the word of God It will lead to a poor prayer life that will take them back to their root. Not just reading the word of God but walking through spiritual realms God has taught us.

Jesus talks about the parable of sowing and reaping in Mathew chapter 13 verses from one to eight. The parable says a sower sows the seed. The seed which was sowed in the good ground brought forth fruit, such as by the work of the diligent servant of God that we got to know Jesus the redeemer. And now it is in our hands to sow the seed in others which can bring a great harvest to the kingdom of God. It can only be achieved by diligence not the sluggishness. The work of diligent servant and children of God will surely rule over sin and its curses and will suppress the evil kingdom. Amen.

Waste of talent (substance) and opportunity

The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious (Proverbs12:24). The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore, shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing (Proverbs 20: 4). These two Verses more or less have the same meaning. We can find two things from them. A lazy person will not complete the work assigned in its entirety. The second one is that he will not use an opportunity he gets.

Let’s figure these two aspects from the parable of talents written in Mathew chapter 25: 26. It says that the slothful servant hid the talent in the earth which was given to him. Firstly, he didn’t work or do with what he was given whereas the other two slaves doubled it. We see that the slave who was given five gained five more and the one who was given two gained two more. They doubled what was given to them.

Secondly, he didn’t use the opportunity to do something out of it. We must note that the talent was Voluntarily given by the Master to him. Mathew 25: 19 Says that the Master came after a long time which does mean that he had enough time to use it for some purpose but it is because he chose to be idle and sluggish, he hid it in the earth.

Salvation is given to each and every one who believes in Jesus Christ and it is absolutely free. But the reward can come only when we do something out of our salvation in the name of Jesus Christ. As we read in Mark 16:15 Jesus himself commanded us to preach the gospel to every creature. Yes, to every creature. Do you think a slothful servant will do it? No! So that’s why the word of God Sends us the waning for being slothful.

I will take you all through this journey shortly in my upcoming post.

God bless you all. Amen.
